🧊 Winter Activities – Outdoors

Ice Skating

Bring your own skates or rent some to enjoy the skating rink at North Hatley Park.
You can also skate in Magog, along the shores of Lake Memphremagog, then walk to the Koz restaurant for a coffee or hot chocolate. An excellent Mediterranean restaurant worth trying!


Ice Hockey

The park’s hockey rink has two nets in good condition. You will often find players ready for a spontaneous game – just like when we were young, placing hockey sticks at center ice to make the teams!


Street Hockey (Cosom)

Because winter temperatures vary greatly, the rink is sometimes unusable.
The chalet offers 12 cosom sticks, including two goalie sticks, as well as two nets.


Free Sliding at the North Hatley Elementary School

Walk up behind the chalet to the elementary school: the spot is perfect and safe for sliding. Click here.


Free Sliding in Magog

New at Pointe Merry: free slides for children. Large enough to ensure fun for everyone. Click here.


Sliding and Skating at the André Nadeau Outdoor Center

Less than 12 minutes from the chalet: tube sliding, cross-country skiing, and skating at low cost. Click here.

Alpine Touring at Mont Hatley

Cross-Country Skiing Along the Massawippi River

Enjoy an 8 km groomed cross-country trail running along the Massawippi River. Beautiful, flat, and easy for everyone.


Alpine Skiing at Mont Orford

A downhill ski mountain less than 25 minutes from the chalet. Enjoy excellent skiing and a beautiful lodge to relax in. Visit https://montorford.com/


Ice Fishing in Front of the Chalet

Equipment available on request (warning: high-risk activity).
Always check ice thickness before going out. Buy worms at the general store to increase your chances.

Winter Sauna (Solstice Sauna)

Right in front of the chalet, enjoy a sauna session with supervised cold-water dips in the lake.

☀️ Summer Activities – Outdoors

Outdoor Games

  • Cornhole: Large black and red wooden boards with 10 beanbags, 5 blue and 5 red.
  • Washers: Wooden box with metal washers to toss.Pétanque (flat area at the school)
  • Spikeball (park or grass area in front of the chalet)
  • Mölkky (Finnish throwing game, two sets available)


Catch Trout and Bass from the Federal Dock

Right in front of the chalet. Buy worms at the general store next door and use the rods and lures provided. Almost guaranteed results! Family fishing permit available at the general store or online.


Boat tour

Hire a captain for a boat tour on the lake. Ask Fishlecamp.ca


Fishing Trip on the Lake

Fish le Camp.
A 15 km lake with depths of more than 300 feet. Species include: lake trout, smallmouth bass, pike, perch, sunfish, smelt.

Kayak & Paddleboard

Launch directly in front of the chalet with life vests and paddles.
Ideas:

  • Sunset picnic
  • Stargazing (flashlight required!)
  • Short paddle to the river under the bridge

Kayak Fishing

Lake trout: jig in deep water (smelt imitation).
Smallmouth bass: split-shot rig, often 4 lbs+.


Outdoor Campfire

Safe fire pit in the yard, with wood and fire starters provided.

Hot-dog sausages
“Smorse” with Leclerc cookies


Soccer Game at the Elementary School

Just 50 meters behind the chalet, play soccer on a small field accessible to everyone. Fun for both kids and adults!


Play Structures at the Elementary School

Swings and slides for children. Let them burn off some energy while you relax.


Baseball Game at the Baseball Park

A very well-kept secret: a baseball field hidden behind the houses. Click here.


Water Play Park for Kids

A 15-minute drive to a small free public splash pad—perfect for young children and parents looking for an easy activity. Click here.

You can also go to the Saint-Catherine-de-Hatley campground. It’s about $10 per child, but the water games are more impressive. Click here.

Basketball Game at the Elementary School

Two low-height hoops suitable for children, but also great fun for adults and families.


Throwing a Frisbee at North Hatley Park

Head to Rivière Park, 500 meters from the chalet, to enjoy a large green space perfect for tossing a frisbee. And while you’re there, enjoy a craft beer at the Vilandré microbrewery.


Cornhole Tournament

Take out the large black and red wooden boards, 5 grey/red bags and 5 orange bags. Place the boards 21 steps apart. In teams of two, score 1 point for landing on the board and 3 points for getting it in the hole.
Play to 21 points, or 11 for a quicker game.
Best place to play: in front of the post office or general store, at Parc des Braves.


Outdoor Spa

Enjoy in moderation and drink plenty of water.
Chlorine tablets available for longer stays.


BBQ

Three Napoleon BBQs, powerful and fast-heating.
The butcher at the general store can prepare custom cuts.
Don’t forget to brush the grills after use.

Swimming at the Federal Dock

Accessible 24/7, ladder for climbing back up, warm water from late June.


Sunset Fondue

On the rooftop terrace: electricity + extension cords + fondue equipment.
Perfect for a memorable summer dinner.


Raclette with a Lake View

Two appliances serving up to 16 people.
Grill meats, vegetables, cheese, and sausages.
A fun Québec-style “raclounette”!


Tennis at the Public Beach

The courts next to the chalet are private (avoid).
Public courts are 700 m away.
Four adult and four children’s rackets available.
Free after 6 p.m., $5 to $10 before.

Machine with two microphones and Bluetooth. Project lyrics on the TV or with the projector.


Pizza Night

Special electric oven for wood-oven-style pizza.
One pizza at a time, shared with the group—that’s the concept!

Two full poker sets for up to 10 players.

Play solo or two-player, and cast the game to the TV for the whole family.


Table Hockey (Chexx)

The machine counts goals and plays the national anthem. Perfect for a family tournament.

Don’t waste any time: while the hockey tournament is running, launch a foosball tournament too.
